South Tyneside Parent Carer Forum

Uniting voices in the SEND community

Who are we?

South Tyneside Parent Carer Forum is made up of a team of volunteer parent carers who care for children and young people aged 0-25 years in South Tyneside.

What do we do and why do we do it?

We work alongside strategic bodies, service providers and commissioners to ensure that the needs of children, young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families are met. Our overall mission is to work with these groups to represent the views and experiences of children, young people and parent carers in our area and help work towards a brighter future. We are an independent group and not part of any statutory service. We received a grant from the Department of Education to enable participation of parents and carers in the development and monitoring of services.

How can you help us?

  • Share your challenges, victories, thoughts, and opinions with us. You can do this by messaging us directly, completing any short surveys we develop and engage in online discussions. Doing this helps us develop vital evidence to feedback to services and commissioners and influence change.
  • Spread the word. Tell other parents and carers about us. Share our social media posts. Come along to events and our funded workshops.
  • Most importantly, become a member for free!
  • Remember, many voices are louder than one.

How do you become a member and why?

  • Parent Carers within South Tyneside can sign up and become a member via our website www.stpcf.org .
  • Members get exclusive access to free events, training,
  • and workshops both online and face to face. This could range from specialist training on topics such as sleep, to fun free local events for parent carers, children, and young people to attend.
  • Members will be regularly updated on local support available from partner agencies.
  • We often hold give aways for free days out and vouchers for our members.
  • Members are also invited to our exclusive Annual General Meeting event.
  • Make sure you sign up and follow us on social media to see what is coming up next!
