Our House Group system is an integral part of school life.
Here’s how it works in our school:
Children are assigned to one of the houses—Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Andrew, or Thomas. Each house group has a distinct colour. Using the seven Saint names not only adds a layer of tradition but also encourages pupils to embody the values associated with each Saint, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture. Class teachers take responsibility for a House Group.
House group meetings are held fortnightly and are directly linked to Catholic Social Teaching, British values, Protected Characteristics and Gospel Values. They also take part in various activities, such as sports events, academic quizzes, art competitions, and community service projects. This fosters teamwork and school spirit as students rally for their house. House captains and Vice captains (voted for by the children) play a leading part in these meetings and are always willing to undertake new roles and responsibilities. Strong relationships and good examples are key to their success.
Year 6 pupils in each house mentor younger pupils, promoting leadership skills and creating a supportive community where everyone feels valued. Our house system helps pupils make friendships across different Year groups, creating a strong sense of belonging within the school.
