Our Diocese
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle is a Roman Catholic diocese of the Latin Rite centred on St Mary’s Cathedral in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. The diocese is one of the six suffragan sees in the ecclesiastical Province of Liverpool and covers much of North-East England.

International School
Here at SS Peter & Paul we have continued to foster links between children and teachers from around the world.
We have undertaken a number of activities throughout his academic year as a school to enhance the learning of different languages , countries and cultures. We have enjoyed learning about different countries and the languages they speak.
At first the world might seem rather large but it is actually quite small when we can chat and talk to anyone anywhere.
Chinese New Year and Iranian New Year
As a school we have celebrated Chinese New Year at home and school, we read the story of the Great Race and our Year 3 children created their own dragon and performed a lion dance for the rest of the school.
Our Year 6 class have celebrated Iranian New Year, they created their own Haft-Sin tables on paper and they designed Nowruz cards for our Iranian family.
Mandarin
Our Year 3 and 4 class have enjoyed learning Mandarin via Google meet with a teacher called Zhou Yao from Xiamen.
Travelling to Tokyo
We are travelling to Tokyo to celebrate the 2021 Olympic games! To do this, each child has their own QR code and they are keeping track of how far they travel during their daily mile time.
Diwali
Nursery celebrated Diwali by reading the story of Rama and Sita. They used the small world table to retell the story and used sequins to light the path for Sita and Rama.
Prague Pen Pals and Chinese Pen Pals
Our Year 5 class have been exchanging letters with children in Prague. They are enjoying getting to know their new pen friend and learning about life in Prague.
Our Year 3 class have been exchanging letters and photographs with children in China. They are using the Mandarin they are learning to help communicate with their new pen friends.
International Homework Challenge
The international Homework Challenge links to our Travelling to Tokyo event. Each class was given a different country to research over the Easter holidays, the children did a fantastic job at working at home to research their country and create something amazing to bring to school and present to the rest of the class.
Children’s Day in Japan
As a school we celebrated Children’s Day which is celebrated in Japan. The children enjoyed learning about this special day and created traditional decorations to hang up around the classroom.
